Started in 2014, the West in Development Program (POD) is a Regional Territorial Governance action that seeks to promote sustainable economic development in the West of Paraná, through the synergy of institutions and the integration of initiatives, projects and actions. The POD establishes development strategies for the region, in an organized and participatory way for decision-making. Its focus is on encouraging and proposing actions capable of increasing the region’s competitiveness.

Currently 55 municipalities are part of the program, which is made up of more than 60 public and private institutions such as companies, cooperatives, support and development institutions, trade unions and associations, universities, research and technology centers operating in the region.

It is organized into 7 priority actions, one of which is the Regional Innovation System.
